  5. Safe Travel Tips for Business and Personal Use: Atlanta Injury Lawyer

Road trips can be a great way to relieve stress in between longer vacations, and some business travelers are even opting to drive short distances because it’s just easier than flying nowadays.

But if you’re taking off on a weekend trip or a sales call out of town, review these safety tips:

  • Plan ahead. Even if the idea is to do something spontaneous that you plan on a Thursday and do on a Friday, at least find a place to stay before you leave town. It’s not uncommon to go off on a trip only to find that everyone else had the same idea, Read online hotel reviews to make sure you don’t end up on the wrong side of town, and make a hotel reservation in advance.
  • Map your route. Even if you have a GPS, you should know where you are going. Technology can fail, and you don’t want to be relying on your cell phone GPS in an area without service. And yes, those areas still exist where the answer to, “Can you hear me now?” is “No!
  • Tell someone where you are going. Even if this is a “secret” trip with a new friend or what you think is a quick business trip, be sure someone knows where you’re headed. This applies to business trip and personal adventures. Let someone know who you are meeting with and where you are staying, particularly if you are traveling alone. If you plan to be away for a few days, let your neighbors know you’ll be gone so they can keep an eye on your house.
  • When you travel you don’t want it to be obvious. Leave lights on at your house. Using a timer is the best idea. A television left on not only will make your home look occupied, but it will entertain your cat.
  • Whenever you are on the road, don’t leave any valuables in your car — not even for a moment. Thieves know what they are looking for, and if they see it, they’ll seize the opportunity.
  • Keep your purses and wallets close to you. Don’t lay your wallet on a counter at a busy gas station, or on the sink in the restroom.
  • Never tell strangers that you are on vacation or that you are traveling alone.
