Our Atlanta wrongful death attorneys know that losing a loved one is one of the worst things that can happen. And it is one of parents’ worst fears to have to bury a child. That is what happened to the parents of Gary “DannyMimbs in January 2011.

That night in January, Mr. Mimbs went to a bar in Macon, the Whisky River, to meet friends. After drinking, he got into a fight and another patron, Jeremy Jackson, punched him in the head. A security guard at the bar broke up the fight and two body guards led Mr. Mimbs and Jackson outside. Once outside, Mr. Mimbs blacked out. He was taken to the hospital and a few hours later was declared brain dead. He was taken off life support and passed away soon after.

The criminal case against Jackson still hasn’t been resolved more than two years later, much to the frustration of Danny Mimbs’ mother, Vicky Rich. Jackson has been free on bond since February 2011 and claims he was defending himself in the fight against Mr. Mimbs. Last week, the criminal charges for Jackson were upgraded when a grand jury indicted him for murder and aggravated assault, up from the previous charge of involuntary manslaughter.

Because amputation is very expensive to treat, can cause significant medical complications and can fundamentally change your life, it is absolutely essential you get help from an experienced Workers’ Compensation Attorney as soon as possible if you have suffered an amputation at work.

According to the US Department of Labor, approximately one half of all amputation injuries occur in the manufacturing sector in the United States. While amputation injuries are more likely to occur when you use machinery or heavy equipment as part of your job, amputation can unfortunately happen to anyone who is involved in a serious workplace accident.

Amputation is always traumatic, whether you lose an arm, a leg, a finger, a toe or any other extremity. Amputation can necessitate corrective surgery to reattach the limb when possible, or surgical intervention to provide a prosthesis when your own limb cannot be reattached. In some cases, neither reattachment nor the use of a prosthetic is possible and the damage simply cannot be repaired.

Below are certain things that you can do to increase the success of your worker’s compensation case:

1. Report the injury.

If you don’t report your injury while at work, it allows insurance companies to question whether the injury occurred there€“or if the injury even happened at all. It also gives them an opportunity to delay your workers compensation benefits and medical treatment while they investigate the claim. If you get hurt at work, tell a supervisor. If your company has an incident or accident report, fill it out, give it to the proper individual and make sure to keep a copy.

As Alpharetta, Georgia Workers’ Compensation Attorneys, we know just how devastating a shoulder injury can be. The three bones in your shoulder joint (the clavicle, scapula and humerus) are the most movable joints in your body. Unfortunately, the shoulder joints are unstable since the shoulder socket is smaller than the ball of your upper arm. While the muscles, tendons and ligaments help to anchor the shoulder in a stable position, the shoulder is highly susceptible to injury, especially when you have a job that requires you to repeatedly do overhead work or heavy lifting.

If you have injured your shoulder at work as a result of a single incident or as a result of repeated lifting or overhead work, Georgia law provides you with benefits under workers’ compensation. To make sure you qualify for and obtain the full extent of workers’ comp benefits, it is advisable to speak with a Workers’ Compensation Lawyer as soon as possible after your shoulder injury.
