Van Sant Law Community Impact & Academic Excellence Scholarship
Van Sant Law and its Atlanta personal injury lawyers are proud members of Georgia’s most vibrant communities. The firm wants to celebrate everyone who comes through its doors. Beginning this year, the team looks forward to having new opportunities to do so courtesy of its debut Community Impact & Academic Excellence Scholarship.
The Community Impact & Academic Excellence Scholarship through Van Sant Law promises $2,500 to a student with an exceptional academic background and commitment to their local community. Students have until October 30, 2026, to submit their applications for consideration.
Who Is Eligible?
To qualify for the Community Impact & Academic Excellence Scholarship, a student must indicate that:
- They’re enrolled in a United States college, graduate school, trade school, or university.
- They agree to the Community Impact & Academic Excellence Scholarship’s terms and conditions.
- They’ve completed an essay addressing the topics mentioned below.
Van Sant Law proudly offers this scholarship to students of all majors.
Students can apply for this scholarship by assessing the aforementioned eligibility requirements, then by completing an essay of between 500 and 1,000 words. Students must complete their essays within the standards established in these guidelines, or else they may not qualify for the Community Impact & Academic Excellence Scholarship.
Scholarship Essay Topic
Students interested in applying for the Van Sant Law Community Impact & Academic Excellence Scholarship should complete an essay between 500 and 1,000 words answering one of the following prompts:
- How will your education help you create safer communities or protect others from harm?
- What motivates you to pursue your chosen field, and how will you use your knowledge to positively impact others?
- Describe a time when you overcame a challenge and how that experience shaped your goals and future aspirations.
Students only need to answer one of the prompts before submitting their essay for consideration. Students can save their essays as PDFs, then include their files alongside the application form available through the Van Sant Law website.
The scholarship selection committee wants to reward students whose essays reflect a student’s personal ambitions, educational goals, and desire to contribute to the well-being of others.
How to Format a Scholarship Essay
Students should create a catchy and original title for their essays. If using outside sources, students should create a bibliography and include citations throughout their essays.
When saving their essays, students should use the following naming format: “[Scholarship Name and Year] – [Student Name].” The scholarship selection committee requests essays in PDF format.
Finally, the scholarship selection committee wants to reward students’ originality and personal goals. Please do not use AI to generate a scholarship essay when applying for the Van Sant Law Community Impact & Academic Excellence Scholarship. The team will remove any AI-generated essays from its applicant pool.
Application Deadline
Students have until October 30, 2026, to complete and submit their applications for consideration. Unfortunately, the scholarship selection committee with Van Sant Law cannot consider late or incomplete applications at this time.
The team reserves up to three months after the scholarship submission deadline passes to select its scholarship recipient. Please do not reach out to the firm with questions about the status of a student’s application during this time. The team with Van Sant Law cannot answer questions about a student’s qualifications or application status.
Once the team chooses its scholarship winner, a representative will reach out to that student via email. Unfortunately, non-recipients will not hear back from the law firm.
Terms and Conditions
All applicants to this scholarship must meet the eligibility requirements as laid out on the scholarship application page, including:
- Applicant must be enrolled at a college, trade school, university, or graduate school
- Applicant must be at least 18 years old at the time of enrollment
- Applicant must have residency in the United States
- Applicant must be in good academic standing
- Applicant must submit some personal information, including name, contact information, and academic information
- Applicant must author an original essay on the scholarship topic provided
Anyone who meets the following conditions is NOT eligible to apply:
- Employees or children of employees of Van Sant Law
- Past recipients of the Community Impact & Academic Excellence Scholarship
- Applicants who are unable/unwilling to be interviewed by a representative of Van Sant Law if they were to be awarded a scholarship.
- Applicants who submit the same essay for multiple scholarships or for multiple years in a row
Selection & Award Notification Process
The scholarship selection committee with Van Sant Law wants to reward a student whose scholarship essay reflects a deep commitment to the world around them, as well as their educational goals. Age, race, religion, gender, national origin, familial status, or other protected classes will have no influence on the committee’s choice of winner.
The team reserves up to three months to choose its winner from the applicant pool. Applications must reach Van Sant Law before the submission deadline passes if a student wants to qualify for the $2,500 award. Similarly, scholarship applications must meet the qualifying criteria and include all required documents if a student wants their packet to move forward.
Once the scholarship selection committee agrees on a winner, a representative will contact that winner and arrange to have their monetary award sent to the academic institution of their choice. Van Sant Law will then announce the winner on its website via a blog post and press release.
