Teen Drivers Need to Be Reminded to Hang Up and Drive

Teenagers continue to be among the worst offenders when it comes to cell phone use while driving.

The Georgia Department of Transportation is asking parents to remind their teen drivers of the dangers of using their cell phone while behind the wheel.

“There are far too many accidents on Georgia roads caused by distracted drivers. Texting and cell phone use now rival DUIs for the cause of most accidents in the state,” says David Van Sant, an Atlanta personal injury attorney.

Victims of car accidents who believe texting or other in-car distractions were the cause of an accident in which they were injured need the services of an attorney. The attorney can work with authorities to access cell phone records to determine whether or not phone use was a factor.

“When cell phones are the cause of an accident, people need to know,” Van Sant says. “Using a phone while driving can lead to charges of reckless driving and to additional fines or charges against the driver at fault,” he says.
