Nebraska Bus Accident Leaves Four Dead on Country Road

Community members in the rural community of Blue Hill, Nebraska, are in shock after a school bus collided with a tractor trailer hauling hay bales at the intersection of two gravel roads, killing both drivers and two students ages 18 and 10.
The crash caused the semi to burst into flames, and the fire quickly spread to the bus. Six other children, some as young as 6, escaped from the bus. One child is in serious condition with severe burns over a large portion of her body. Several other children have minor burn injuries and lacerations and are in stable condition. At least two of the students were treated and released.
The crash occurred around 5 p.m.in broad daylight.
This accident underscores the need for drivers to exercise extreme caution no matter what time of day or night they are on the road, and whether they are on major highways or isolated country roads.
“Driving is something that requires your full attention whenever you get behind the wheel. While we don’t know what caused this accident, four people are dead and six others are injured, and families are left to pick up the pieces,” says David Van Sant, an Atlanta personal injury lawyer.
“As attorneys, we work with clients who have survived terrible accidents, and our goal is to help them to rebuild by making sure that their medical expenses and other financial needs are covered. Insurance companies don’t always make that an easy process, which is why we take it very seriously,” Van Sant says.
