Over the weekend Alpharetta police responded to a call around 4 a.m. for a presumed grass fire near Alpharetta High School, but when they arrived what they actually found was a burning red Ferrari with two critically injured men.

Both the 18-year-old driver and his 21-year-old passenger were burned over 80 percent their bodies, and while they had been able to crawl out of the vehicle, they were critically injured and burned and were airlifted to Grady Memorial Hospital. When young people are injured it is always a tragedy. As personal injury lawyers we are privy to accident cases on a regular basis and when young people are injured it’s particularly heart wrenching for everyone involved or who hears of it.

The car, a Ferrari model F430, was a gift to the 18-year old driver from his father just last week, according to Channel 2 News. The car is known to have a top speed of 200 miles per hour and authorities say that a high rate of speed was absolutely a contributor to this crash and fire.

Photos provided to news outlets by the Alpharetta police show that the car’s entire front end is smashed and fire has consumed the rest of the car through to the rear wheels. The driver and passenger remain in the Grady burn unit with no update on their conditions.

When accidents like this occur there are incredible medical bills associated. Families are devastated when injuries are so severe as to change lives forever. Poor decisions don’t negate responsibility, and when situations are extremely difficult, involving friends or passeners or multiple vehicles, personal injury attorneys are an essential resource.
