A teenager was care flighted to Grady Memorial Hospital and the driver of a tractor trailer transported to Northside Hospital-Forsyth mid-day Tuesday afte a Nissan collided head on with a tractor trailer not far from North Forsyth High.

First responders on the scene worked intensely and cautiously to free the teen’s leg, which was pinned inside the wreckage. The accident and response, including the arrival of the helicopter, brought traffic along highway 369 in north Forsyth to a crawl. With the back to school traffic, school buses on the roads, and general heavy traffic this week in the area, officials encouraged drivers to find alternative routes on the afternoon pick-up.

The area of the wreck is located near three schools: North Forsyth High, North Middle and Coal Mountain Elementary schools. School officials were confident that delays would be minimal on bus routes throughout the area.

This accident, in broad daylight, underscores the need for caution whenever you are out on the road. While the details of this particular accident are not yet known, accidents change the lives of people and their loved ones every day.
