An Atlanta driver crossed over the center line on a rain slicked Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. at Hightower just before Midnight Sunday night, slamming into another car, severely injuring herself and killing her passenger in the accident.

Tonika Clark, 31, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, Shamaye Williams, sustained serious injuries and was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital. The second vehicle, driven by Keevin Huston, was severely damaged. The extent of Huston’s injuries have not been released.

Both alcohol and rain soaked streets are considered to have been factors in the crash.

Tragic accidents such as these can so easily be avoided. Drinking and driving do not mix, and when a death occurs at the hands of a suspected drunk driver, there is simply no excuse.

As a personal injury attorney in Atlanta, I work with accident victims, insurance companies, and the survivors of the victims of horrific accidents. My goal is to ensure that, if the car accident was the result of an impaired driver, the highest level of restitution is sought for the victim and/or his or her family.

If you have been injured in an automobile accident, or if you have lost a loved one to a careless and tragic drunk driving incident, don’t sit by and let the tragedy ruin your life or your financial livelihood.
