- Children 6 and under absolutely must be secured in either a car seat or booster seat that is appropriate and approved for their specific height and weight.
- Children 7 years old and younger, who are 5’7″ or shorter, must sit in the rear seat if one is available.
- Children over 5’7″ and who weigh at least 40 pounds may use a lap belt if a shoulder/lap belt is not available.
Use Common Sense
- Stay focused. Save arguments and texting for when you’re not behind the wheel of a vehicle.
- Keep children comfortable. Use sunshades to keep children at ease and quiet.
- Prioritize. Your job is to get from point A to point B without getting in an accident. The spilled Skittles can wait until you can pull over. Everyone stays upright and in their seat belts. No exceptions.
