Offers 3rd Annual $1,000 Veterans’ Education Scholarship

Scholarship Van Sant Law

Van Sant Law is a proud supporter of America’s heroes. That is why our law firm is offering up the Annual Veterans’ Scholarship to all U.S. military veterans who are attending college or a local university.

The winner is chosen based on his or her application, along with a brief essay that discusses their military experience. An Honorable Discharge is required, and our team would love to hear about your educational goals and what your future aspirations are with your education.

The deadline for entering the 3rd Annual Veterans’ Education Scholarship is January 1, 2018. While that is some time away, we encourage all applicants to start thinking about their essay, goals, and possibly even submit their application and essay early.

A Few Statistics About America’s Veterans

According to the United States Census Bureau, Georgia alone has approximately 690,208 veterans as of 2015. The unemployment rate for veterans is higher than the national average, resting at 7.6 percent in the state and 5.3 percent in the remainder of the country.

Many of the veterans residing right here in our state have served in the globe’s biggest conflicts, including both Gulf Wars, Vietnam, World War II, the Korean War, and performed peacetime service too.

When it comes to education, 20 to 30 percent of veterans in the U.S. have a bachelor’s degree or higher, but less than ten percent are enrolled in college. In fact, a vast majority of veterans in the United States have only graduated high school and while some have done college courses, not all graduated.

With the increasing rates of a college education, it is harder for veterans to receive the quality education they need to succeed in life and move forward. Some even find it hard to support their family. With a clear majority of the veterans in the state of Georgia ranging from 30 to 60 years of age, it is important that they receive the support they deserve for protecting our country.
